Manny – Floyd showdown may not happen at all

Yes. I believe the aborted Manny Pacquiao – Floyd Mayweather fight could be headed to its final grave. After all, Manny is set to face dangerous Ghanian Joshua Clottey on March 13 and Floyd is reported to have signed the contract to face ‘Sugar ‘ Shane Mosley on May 1. With this scenario, I expect [...]

How’s Juan Manuel Marquez?

I am concerned with the mental state of Juan Manuel Marquez after reading the reports yesterday about a proposed third bout with Manny Pacquiao. As reported, Marquez would agree to take on Pacquiao on two conditions: Olympic-style drug testing and a 50-50 Purse split. Whew! What do you think?

Boxing’s 2nd half highlights

As what I’ve promised last July, I am going to share my own picks for the best fights for the second half of the year. Unfortunately however, second half of 2009 did not have much exciting bouts like the first six months. I could only cite three electrifying battles that I could retain [...]

Pacquiao-Cotto fight photos

Last weekend’s mega fight in Las Vegas, Nevada deserves a second look or even third and fourth looks. I took some time to download and upload photos on the fight. Again, thanks to www.Boxrec.com.ua

Careless whispers

Miguel Cotto repeatedly said that all is well now after his brutal loss to Antonio Margarito last year. As they say, there’s always a first time for everything. It was the first time that Miguel Cotto lost and got knocked out in his pro career.

Still undecided

Everybody’s talking about it already. I mean it’s Thursday and “Firepower” is just a few days away. Due to time difference, it will be Sunday morning here in the Philippines by the time Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto squares off the ring. But until now, I haven’t decided on where to watch this fight.

Who’s corner will come to rescue?

“Firepower” is just a few days away. I’m sure I share the same feeling with my fellow Filipinos and all Pacquiao fans.  As they say, styles make fights, Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Miguel Angel Cotto will be an all-out war right from the opening bell. The two ring gladiators meet in the ring carrying the [...]

Selling like hotcakes

The much anticipated battle between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto overexcites everybody.  Tickets are almost sold out on its first day in the market as reported.  Philboxing.com claimed that all of the 9,000 tickets priced at $150, $350 and $500 were all sold out right on the opening day. Only those priced at $750 and [...]

Here’s the part II of my previous post Boxing’s 1st half highlights…
4. Gerry Peñalosa vs. Juan Manuel Lopez (April 25)
It’s a fight I wouldn’t like to watch again. CompuBox had it all.  Juan Manuel ‘Juanma’ Lopez landed 444 out of 1020 total punches thrown thru Round 9 compared to the ‘Fearless’ Gerry Peñalosa’s [...]
