Hideki Matsui of Japan, who was recently voted as the World Series MVP underwent a test in his left knee in New York. Matsui who had a surgery to repair the damaged cartilage early this year went through two hours of MRI scans and tests. He left the hospital without speaking to the media.

WBA flyweight champion Denkaosan Kaovichit of Thailand is set to face Daiki Kameda of Japan in a rematch early next year. The 33-year old Thai won via a Majority Decision against the Japanese brawler last October 6. Kameda’s camp has been urging the WBA for an immediate rematch following the controversial fight with Kaovichit .

Japan’s Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners won his ninth consecutive American League Gold Glove Award for fielding skills. Suzuki made only five errors in the entire season of 2009. He is also credited for accuracy for throwing out runners from a distance.
