Will Stanley Pringle join Smart Gilas?
Filipino-American point guard Stanley Pringle out of Pennsylvania State University has been on the radar of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) for Smart Gilas since he was discovered to have Filipino roots. The 22-year old 6-foot playmaker who is known for his quickness and high leaping ability during his college days is currently in Belgium playing as an import. Unconfirmed reports are circulating however, that he got injured after playing only one game and may be out for at least two months.
Pringle can add to Coach Rajko Toroman’s luxury in rotating quality backcourt personnel. At present, Smart Gilas’ backcourt rotation include Mark Barocca, JV Casio, Chris Tiu, JR Cawaling and RJ Razul. Another Fil-am to have confirmed to join is Chris Lutz, a 6-foot-3 shooter in the mold of Allan Caidic. Lutz is on his senior year in the US NCAA and is expected to come by end of April next year.
Stanley Pringle’s basketball resume is without question. He last played for his alma matter in his junior year. He averaged 12.75 points shooting 45.3% from the field and ranked 6th in the Big Ten in three point shooting percentage with 45 %. Besides, he owns the highest vertical leaping ability in the team at 37 inches. Likewise, he was described as one of the quickest and fastest players in the conference.
With the national squad already fully loaded with guards, will Stanley Pringle join Smart Gilas?
