Philippine developmental team Smart Gilas captain Chris Tiu believes that one of the most effective ways of leadership is through by example. True indeed as he lives by it on and off the court.

As a player, he has already achieved so many feats counting back from his days as a Blue Eagle. The 5-foot-10 combo guard has impressed a lot of basketball enthusiasts because of his basketball IQ and composure especially during crucial moments of the game.

Off the court, he excelled in academics during his stay in Ateneo de Manila where he finished two courses- B.S. in Management Engineering and B.S./Master in Applied Mathematics. He has also appeared in various TV shows either as a guest or a host. At present, Chris is a Barangay Councilor in Urdaneta in Makati City.

Born on July 15, 1985, Chris is the second eldest of five siblings. With his impressive background and winning attitude, there’s no doubt he is leading Gilas the smart way.
