Well, it’s almost 12 midnight as I’m writing this post. The ‘Event’ is just a sleep away. Remember Gino Padilla’s hit maker ‘Just a smile away ‘? It became so popular back in the early 90s and we could replace its lyrics with ‘just a sleep away’.
What makes sense to these words is the fact [...]

It’s just three days away from a national holiday here in the Philippines as once again, boxing icon Manny Pacquiao takes on Joshua Clottey of Ghana on Saturday (Sunday PHI time). In the last three fights of Manny, I watched all of these in Gaisano Mall Cinema along J.P. Laurel Ave. here in Davao City. [...]

Around early July last year, Manny Pacquiao finalized the deal with their date with Miguel Cotto in November. The way things were going, it seemed that there was a ‘final four’ in boxing as Floyd Mayweather was already set to face Juan Manuel Marquez last September 19. In other words, it was Pacquiao vs. Cotto [...]

Yes. I believe the aborted Manny Pacquiao – Floyd Mayweather fight could be headed to its final grave. After all, Manny is set to face dangerous Ghanian Joshua Clottey on March 13 and Floyd is reported to have signed the contract to face ‘Sugar ‘ Shane Mosley on May 1. With this scenario, I expect [...]

I am concerned with the mental state of Juan Manuel Marquez after reading the reports yesterday about a proposed third bout with Manny Pacquiao. As reported, Marquez would agree to take on Pacquiao on two conditions: Olympic-style drug testing and a 50-50 Purse split. Whew! What do you think?

A couple of young Filipino boxers with bright future and a seasoned veteran who is clearly past his prime are taking on separate opponents next month. Ciso Morales, the promising 22-year old from Cagayan de Oro City whose record currently stands at 14-0-0 with 8 KOs will take on veteran Eric Montiel of Mexico on [...]

As what I’ve promised last July, I am going to share my own picks for the best fights for the second half of the year. Unfortunately however, second half of 2009 did not have much exciting bouts like the first six months. I could only cite three electrifying battles that I could retain [...]

As of the moment, the much awaited fight between Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines and American Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is in the works. In principle, both have agreed to a mega showdown on March 13, 2010. But there is still a fundamental issue to be settled, that is the venue [...]

I have been trying to list down Filipino boxers who are on the doorstep to stardom. Boxers who may carry the torch once Manny Pacquiao decides to hang up his gloves. My list includes Rey Bautista, Donnie Nietes, Ciso Morales, Marvin Sonsona, Brian Villoria, Bernabe Concepcion and AJ Banal. I found out that [...]
