Coach Don Nelson of the Golden State Warriors was diagnosed to have a pneumonia. The second-winningest coach in NBA history is expected to miss two road games in Dallas and San Antonio early this week. Nelson’s health status will be re-evauated by weekend to determine if he’s fit to coach the Warriors by then.

WBA flyweight champion Denkaosan Kaovichit of Thailand is set to face Daiki Kameda of Japan in a rematch early next year. The 33-year old Thai won via a Majority Decision against the Japanese brawler last October 6. Kameda’s camp has been urging the WBA for an immediate rematch following the controversial fight with Kaovichit .

China’s injured star Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets donated $100,000 through his foundation to help rebuild the four playgrounds in Houston that had been destroyed by the hurricane. It was announced at the same time his foundation will have a charity gala with the Museum of Fine Arts early next year.
